Opening Night // Echoes of the Past: Nature as Metaphor

The Francophone Museum is pleased to present Echoes of the Past: Nature as Metaphor, a new exhibition by award-winning San Francisco artist Danièle Erville, with a special opening night reception on October 29th.

Landscapes have always been at the heart of Danièle's work, whether painted en plein air or imagined from within. Inspired by Jules Supervielle's poem "Le petit bois," the show brings together drawing, painting, and collage that use trees and landscapes as metaphors for memory and feeling. Each piece is a direct expression of Danièle's interiority at the moment of creation, and together they show how the things that move us as children can speak to us for a lifetime.

Danièle Erville holds a BA from Clark University, studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her work is part of the Photograph Study Collection at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and has been exhibited in France, Boston, Santa Fe, and throughout the Bay Area. See her work on Instagram @danieleervilleart.

Join us for the opening of the exhibition: meet the artist, enjoy light refreshments, and be among the first to see the show.

Free entry, but kindly RSVP. Doors open 6pm, artist talk at 6:45pm.
