Celebrating Francophone art, preserving history.

Welcome to the Francophone Museum

Discover the rich history and contributions of the French-speaking community in San Francisco and California. Our museum celebrates the cultural, economic, and social impact of Francophone individuals and groups through engaging permanent exhibits, such as the story of early French settlers and their role in shaping the region, and dynamic temporary art exhibitions showcasing contemporary Francophone creativity.

Join us in exploring this unique cultural journey and learn how the Francophone legacy continues to influence California today.

Our mission

The Francophone Museum is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the rich history, culture, and contributions of the French-speaking community in San Francisco and California. Through engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events, we aim to inspire appreciation for the Francophone legacy, foster cultural connections, and create a space where history and art bring communities together.

Our temporary art exhibitions and permanent art gallery showcase the creativity and varied perspectives of French-speaking communities worldwide.

Our oral histories project is dedicated to the history of Francophone immigration to San Francisco. We interview descendants of immigrants to preserve the stories that have shaped French-speaking communities.
